History of the Canada Cup of Beer!
The idea started at the Great Canadian Beer Festival in Victoria, B.C. in September 2005. Great minds from JustHereForTheBeer.com and RateBeer.com started talking and decided that Vancouver needs an outdoor beer festival and competition. Some names were suggested, but a decision was made. The event would be called the Canada Cup of Beer. Immediate steps were taken to secure a website and find a location.
A short history for sure, but thoughts of hosting a large scale beer festival have been on the table for JustHereForTheBeer.com for a couple of years. The success of the classes at UBC and the opportunity to teach at local community centres only affirmed the need for a Canada Cup of Beer competition!
Gaining support from local sponsors and the City of Vancouver will be key. It will be a great opportunity for beer enthusiasts from across the country to come join the excitement. Fans will get a chance to sample beer and appreciate the find craftmanship that is involved. We encourage various representatives to get in touch with us so we can start building momentum for the Canada Cup of Beer 2006 and beyond!
This festival will be for Canadians, so support the Canada Cup of Beer by donating your time and energy as a volunteer, voting for your favourites in the fan zone, sponsoring the event, or attending the festival on July 8th, 2006 in Vancouver!
